Pastor's Letter - May 2017

Dear Friends,
He is Risen! He is risen Indeed! We remain in the Easter season throughout this month of May. As I write this Easter Sunday was only a little over a week ago. But as it often is, we move on quickly with other things that need attending to in life. It is good to be reminded that Easter is a season that lasts far beyond Easter day.
The Saturday after Easter Sunday we had a Leadership Retreat. Congregational leaders  met for four or so hours to pray and reflect on our life together. You will be hearing more about the retreat next Sunday in worship when we will take a congregational survey. This will all be used to help discern where the Holy Spirit is leading us during this time.
Early this month, May 4-6, our Sierra Pacific Synod Assembly will be held in Fresno. This is the annual gathering of the 200 or so Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s churches in Northern California and Nevada. This gathering is also held to discern the direction in which the Holy Spirit is leading our churches as a regional group. Please be praying for the Assembly. Gloria Miller and I will be representing Good Shepherd.
As we continue in this season of Easter I pray that we are reminded of how God is calling each of us, as individuals, as congregations and as the larger Church. Where is God calling you?
    Happy Easter!
God’s Peace,

Pastor Ted
